July 3 Surgery...Waiting...Peace Like a River

We are backtracking a little and getting our facts straight...and trying to learn how to use this internet "blog thing". Please be patient.

On July 3 Joshua had an operation to take a biopsy off of the tumor of his right kidney and place an IV port on his upper left chest. The only way we were able to get through this new chapter in life was with help from all of the family and friends that drove to Portland to sit with us during the surgery and the PRAYING UNSEEN AUDIENCE. Those who drove to Portland were my parents (Lyle and Gladys), Pastor Arron, Vece, Gene and Teresa, Trisha and a friend. The nurses and doctors at Doernbechers Childrens Hospital are wonderful.

A HUGE thank you to Craig and Nyla for taking care of our kids and hosting my parents two nights while this whole new way of life was being sorted out. They have also made a semi-permanent room at their home so we can "drop" in "every" week!!

Everything went well during the biopsy. We had prayed that the doctors would find an air bubble...they did not...they found a tumor. The official results would come in later in the week...Friday July 6 to be exact.

Joshua was sore from being cut open in two different areas on his body. He was a very good patient. We had him up and riding in a wagon the next morning. He was walking around by the afternoon.

Tuesday evening an interesting thing started happeing in our room. We could sense / feel / understand / be overwhelmed with the Peace of God. We cannot really explain it but it happened. Peace like a river regardless of the cancer in our sons body. The Lord God is in control not us. God loves our son MORE than we do as parents. We were embraced by the Peace of God through the prayers of all the saints out there praying for us and our son. May He bless you and keep your, make his face shine upon you, may He lift his countenance to you....ALL OF YOU who prayed and are praying for us.
