The First Day - July 1, 2007

Enjoying a weekend at the beach in a rented house. My parents came over from Prineville to enjoy the beach with us. It was a beautiful two days. My wife and I stood holding hands and said what a nice life we had and rounded up the kids to go have dinner. Sunday evening, July 1, after dinner we told Joshua to go wash up. He came back and said "mom, the toilet is pink!". We all dashed to the bathroom it was not only pink it looked like someone had poured cranberry juice into the toilet. Deana looked at his underwear and they were red. We thought that maybe he had ground sand into the end of his "privates". No such luck!

Then I noticed a bump on his right side. We then proceeded to the Lincoln City emergency room. That adventure lasted until 11:30 p.m. We left with one ultrasound CD and a manilla envelope with many papers in it. They sent us to Doernbechers Children's Hospital. We pulled into the emergency room entrance and they had a team waiting for Joshua.

They ran four CT scans that night, drew blood, and ran some other tests...we were finally into a room around 4:00 a.m. What a night!!! We were exhausted and knew by the comments of doctors and such that he might have something bad. Sleep was not on our minds. Dr. S was a very kind and nice man that tried his best to reassure us.

Drena and I are so sorry over this terrible news. I have experienced an episode in my life where a loved one is stricken with a serious illness at too young an age. We know what you are going through, our hearts and prayers go out to you.

We will turn in a prayer request to our congregation at Washignton Avenue Christian Church here in Amarillo. We are praying for the best.

This Blog is wonderful, we are praying for Joshua as well as all family and friends to get thru this ordeal of course with God on your side, ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE! God gives us such a calming time in our lives and we should look to that daily, not just in time of worry and trials. We love you all and will continue praying for every one. Our love, Wanda & Lynn

A bluegrass singer Iris Dement once said "I believe in love and I live my life accordingly and I choose to let the mystery be." One of the costs that comes with the mystery of the cross is knowledge, and one of the biggest questions that can't be directly answered is, why does suffering exist? Suffering can only become the preamble for a greater mystery. Our only reflection, while in the midst of suffering, is a vision of heaven as our true and eternal home.

"God will look to every soul like its first love because He is its first love your place in heaven will seem to be made for you alone, because you were made for it." -C.S. Lewis

I am thinking of you everyday.
Love
Denee

I was thinking and praying this morning for you all and Joshua and I came across Psalm 20:
May the Lord answer you in the day trouble! May the name of the God of Jacob set you securely on high. May He send you help from the sanctuary. And support you from Zion. May He grant you your hearts desire, and fulfill all your counsel! We will sing for joy over your victory, and in the name of our God we will set up our banners. May the Lord fulfill all your petitions.

Some trust in chariots and some in horses but we will remember the name of the Lord our God.

God be with you
Love Chris
